Besides being physically poor, many of the Mexican people do not know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. They live without spiritual hope and assurance of eternal salvation. Regardless of your construction skills, opportunities abound for sharing the Gospel with families, either during house construction, or during dedicated trips for various kinds of outreaches. Past teams have performed evangelism through several methods:
Baja Christian Ministries selects recipient families within neighborhoods where churches have been, or will be planted. This ensures that spiritual follow-up and discipleship will be continued after project groups leave. Whatever creative form of ministry you choose to do can express God's love as a beacon of light and hope. Presently, we have teams of evangelists, gospel workers, Christian bands, and prayer partners who work together to conduct open air crusades in various communities. This has been very effective in leading hundreds of people to Jesus Christ. It has been a great support to the local churches. The outreaches have been supplemented by distributions of Spanish tracts, Bibles, New Testaments, and other Christian books. We are currently planning an outreach that will reach every home in each community, one after another ("20/20 Vision"). In Acts 20:20, Paul states "You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house." These communities need to be reached in both ways: through public open air meetings like crusades, and from house-to-house for those who do not attend crusades, or need special attention.
