Together We Can Reach A Million!

Dear BCM Partners,

Our God has called us to the Great Commission--to make disciples of the nations!  We are committed to doing that in Baja Mexico where the harvest is ripe!  We have an excellent opportunity to share a significant part in an eternal investment!

We can all help, even from this side of the border, in the discipleship process of more than one million people in Tijuana and the Baja pennisula, laying a solid Biblical foundation in their lives. We have set this as a 20 year goal, yet we believe it can be reached much sooner if we have the funds to do so. How do we solve this shortage of financial resources? Allow me to share some possiblities...., but first I'd like to share a short video interview we did last weekend in Baja produced by David Angulo, and then a brief history of how this all got started, the beginnings to what has become an effective evangelism--discipleship ministry:

How it all got started....

Back in May of 2007 we started a plan that developed into a program we call the "BCM Bible/Purple Book Program" . We started with a single woman whom we asked to be a group leader of 25 people. We gave her a box of 25 Spanish Bibles and 25 Spanish Purple Books. We asked her to involve friends and neighbors in doing a study of the Bible using the Purple Book, a book of over 500 questions that can only be answered by looking up the given scripture verse to answer them. They then write the answer in themselves.

We set up a meeting with a precious Southern California couple. We prosposed to them our plan, which they studied and prayed about.  Later they committed to giving us $100,000 for the first year! Our first year goal was to distribute 10,000 Bibles and 10,000 Purple Books with BCM leadership follow up, encouragement and accountability to complete the books. We reached our distribution goal! The next year we again met with this couple. We reported and submitted again our proposal. This time our goal was to distribute 20,000 additional sets along with follow up through added leaders we hired.  This amazing couple commited to giving us $200,000 more!  We distributed 22,000 that year. The third year is this year. We set the goal at 30,000 sets to be distributed. The couple committed to giving $150,000 more. We are halfway through this year (started in August 2009) and already have distributed an additonal 15,000. The total thus far over the 2 1/2 years is over 45,000 distributed, and over 21,000 people have completed the Purple Book through this growing and thriving network of 1,200 groups, 600 of whom have been or are overseen by pastors in Baja who are served by our 6 fulltime BCM staff members in Baja.

The demand for Bibles and Purples books is growing leaps and bounds. This is a good kind of problem! The diffucult thing is that we have outgrown our funding from this generous couple who have underwritten more than 85-90% of the total program, which includes Bibles, books, staff salaries, gasoline, phones and other expenses.

Habakkuk 2:2 states, "Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time..."

For this vision, I believe the appointed time is now!  Through this letter and other things that have been sent, I hope that this vision to reach one million souls, and  the strategy of how to do it, is becoming plain and clear. Now at this phase we grealty need more runnners to take the torch and move this effective "ministry working net"  forward to complete its task. The ministry mechanism is securely in place,  only the funding is needed!  We need runners to secure the funding to do this battle for souls. Please read through my points of practical ways that we can together reach the million souls! It's so do-able!  The harvest is there already!

1) Remember to pray! Keep this quest in your prayers and help pray in the needed funding!  

2) Ask leadership in your church if you or one of the BCM team could take 10 minutes in a Sunday or mid-week service, men's breakfast, women's Bible study, home Bible study meeting, etc... to make a short presentation and then take an offering for our program.  Also we need runners to set up meetings with Christian business people to present this opportunity!  

3) Along with raising the money to fund and build homes, to ask the teams if they are willing to raise additonal funds to support this life changing program. 

4) Gather a team from your church, with some bi-lingual translators if possible, to go to Baja communities for a day trip and work with our BCM evangelism tag team. They would  go into unreached communities and invite the locals, through spontaneous invitation, to a gathering where we share testimonies, present the gospel, pray with the people, give out Bibles and Purple books to the new believers, and appoint a group leader. And at some point during this trip take up an offering from your team to help keep this ministry going!

5) BCM gives a Bible and Purple Book to each person and a personal diploma to each who finishes this Bible study course. We also provide BCM leadership to start up, visit once a month, and encourage the appointed group leader, helping his or her group of 25 or more finish the course. This usually takes between 3-5 months.  We have figured our total cost for BCM to keep this program going is about $10 a person. So donations can be made to support 1 person or more at this simple rate. Our 17 year goal then would be to raise 10 million dollars to reach one million people.
