Greetings Friends,Family and Partners,
We at BCM are so grateful to look back on this year of 2013, and see how God has opened up great doors of opportunity to become fruitful, and we give Him praise for the increase as we have planted, watered and co-labored with Him (1 Cor. 3:6).
So what is the big picture? What is the BCM story? Is Baja Christian Ministries just a humanitarian organization in Baja, Mexico, or is there more? Baja Christian Ministries does build houses for the poor along with churches, orphanages, classrooms, and rehab buildings through volunteer teams that are given freely, and that is a huge part, but that’s not the whole story.
The giving of homes and other buildings are a demonstration of the real reason we do what we do: to magnify Christ and to authenticate His Gospel message that calls all people to repent and receive His gift of salvation. This is why another huge part of this ministry focuses on evangelism, discipleship and Church-planting. All around us in Baja, we see a hunger for the Good News and we are privileged to be laborers in this Harvest. God has blessed BCM with another very fruitful and effective year of ministry with our Purple Book Discipleship Program that distributes Bibles and discipleship workbooks through a network of more than 2,500 pastors and leaders in Baja, and this network reaches out to even the most desperate places.
For example, did you know that BCM is part of an effective prison ministry that is leading hundreds of inmates to Jesus in a number of Mexican prisons and jails in Baja? Not only are they hearing the Gospel but they are also receiving Bibles and Purple Books, which helps establish a sound Biblical foundation in their lives. When possible, they will even do water baptisms in 55 gallon drums! Have a tissue available as you watch this one for you might shed some tears of joy and thanksgiving to our gracious Father as He saves to the uttermost:
After 22 years as the founder of BCM, and more than 30 years of Mexico ministry, I am setting out to communicate the whole story in a clearer and more comprehensible way! Our hope is to continue in the Hebrews 10:24-25 calling, to “stir one another up in love and good deeds”, and to better equip our teams, preparing hearts for service, to mobilize and multiply more teams and resources through “networking the networks” and "building in the multiplier". Our long-standing BCM goal is still before us– to build 10,000 houses and churches, and see 1,000,000 people coming to know and receive the great salvation God has made a way for through Jesus!
To fulfill our calling and to reach our goals, it’s vital to clear the obstacles from God’s people who have been called to join us in this Baja commission. Isaiah 57:14 states, “Build up, build up, prepare the road! Remove the obstacles out of the way of my people.” If you have considered serving the poor in Baja, Mexico, but don’t because of fear for the safety of your family or your church, may I urge you to do the research (check out the link below) at you will find that the threat of danger is often exaggerated. Just as in the United States, there are certain areas in Mexico to exercise caution, but in the poor communities where we work there has not been one incident in over 30 years of ministry. Thanks be to God! Whatever obstacles may be in front of you, if you sense you are being called to support and participate in this ministry, we pray that God would provide whatever you need to overcome them! The Harvest is ripe in Baja, and laborers are needed!
Article on safety in Mexico:
The ground work has been laid. The system is in place to grow this ministry to reach the whole peninsula. We need your partnership to network the networks with us! We need your prayers, your hands-on service, and your financial help to accomplish this.
A closing thought… Even if you choose not to come to Baja , would you exercise the parable of the talents (Matt 25:14-30) to possibly reach many for Jesus and help poor families by introducing others to this opportunity with an email, a telephone call, a post on Facebook… Thank you for considering these ideas! Thanks for standing with us! We are looking forward to partnering with you in this new year of 2014! May God bless you and your families this Christmas season!
