In Matthew 18:5, Jesus said, “And whoever welcomes one such little child in my name welcomes me.” Caring for the “least of these” (Matt. 25:40), including little children, widows and orphans, the poor, is very important to God, and in James 1:27 it is even called “true religion”.
This project will aim to help meet a great need in poor communities in Tijuana: to provide safe, wholesome, and loving daycare to preschool age children of single, struggling, working moms who have no adequate options for their little ones while they work. Our pilot program will start in a small church building in Antorchistas, a poor colonia where many BCM houses have been built, and will start off by employing two women childcare workers and caring for a maximum of seven children.
Currently, this daycare (launched in February, 2019) costs around $1,200 per month to run, and is paid for by donations only. Will you consider getting behind this new service to single moms and children by becoming a monthly supporter? Every little bit helps! The dream is to successfully establish this pilot program in this particular community, and, Lord willing, see it multiplied in other impoverished communities in the future.
